About Sophie

A studio built around you, not the other way round

I used to see my osteopath every four weeks for my hips and pelvis being out of line. She's the one who told me to try Pilates — and now I only need to go twice a year for maintenance.

I trained with HFE and hold a Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates alongside a Level 2 in Anatomy, and I keep every class small enough that I actually know your name — and your hips.

Whether you've never done a class before or you're coming back after an injury, we'll work at a pace that suits you. No mirrors, no judgement, no rushing.

As an equestrian and show jumper myself, I know firsthand how much balance, stability and core strength matter in the saddle. Pilates transformed my own strength, posture and confidence, and made me a more consistent, balanced rider — it's a big part of why I love teaching it.

Building strength, flexibility and body control off the horse makes a real difference on it. Whether you compete or simply ride for pleasure, Pilates can help you build a stronger, more balanced partnership with your horse.

The Modified Hundred

The Hundred is a classic Pilates exercise that challenges your core, breathing, and coordination. If you're new to Pilates or rebuilding your strength, these progressions are a great place to start.

1

Level 1

Lie on your back with your knees bent, feet on the floor, and arms by your sides. As you inhale, gently draw your belly button towards your spine, engage your deep core, and lift your head, shoulders, and arms off the mat. As you exhale, slowly lower back down with control.

2

Level 2

Repeat the same movement, but this time bring one leg at a time into tabletop (90° at the hip and knee). Hold briefly on the inhale, then lower the leg as you exhale. Alternate sides.

3

Level 3

From the single-leg tabletop position, keep your head and shoulders lifted and pump your arms with small controlled movements before lowering and switching legs. When you're ready, progress to both legs in tabletop and continue the arm pumps while maintaining a strong, stable core.

Focus on quality over quantity

  • Keep your ribs gently drawn down
  • Breathe with each movement
  • Keep your neck relaxed
  • Move slowly and with control

Benefits of the Modified Hundred

  • Strengthens the deep core muscles
  • Improves breathing control
  • Builds endurance and coordination
  • Enhances spinal stability and postural awareness

Remember, Pilates isn't about rushing through the movement — it's about moving with intention and control.

Kind words

What people say

“I was nervous walking in as a total beginner, but Sophie made it feel completely normal to not know what I was doing yet. Three months on and my back pain has genuinely improved.”

Emma R.

“Small class sizes make such a difference — she actually corrects your form instead of just calling out instructions from the front.”

James T.

“The most welcoming studio I've been to. I've tried classes elsewhere that felt like a gym; this feels like it's actually about you.”

Priya K.
